Where
In the heart of central Stockholm on Skeppsholmen (opposite the Royal Palace), in the caverns beneath the Museum of Far Eastern Antiquities. This is the first time that the ”secret” caverns will be made accessible to the general public. Up until the 1960s, they formed part of the Swedish Navy’s headquarters.

The exhibition
For the first time outside of China the artefacts will be displayed under ground, in the Secret Rock Galleries below the Museum of Far Eastern Antiquities in central Stockholm. The setting is similar to the environment in which the artefacts once were found.

- As a visitor one will get that sense of the first magical moment encountering the army face to face in the excavation situation, says museum director Mrs Sanne Houby-Nielsen.

The setting is ideal, utilising the subterranean Secret Rock Galleries, the former naval base of the Swedish Navy. It’s situated on the island of Skeppsholmen, opposite of the Royal Palace. The Rock Galleries are usually not open to the public.

- We are positive towards using the rock galleries for the public, it is in accordance with our administration plans for the island of Skeppsholmen. We want to create a more open and creative meeting point, for Stockholmers as well as tourists, says Ulf Tomner, at the Swedish National Property Board (Statens fastighetsverk).

The unique exhibition is possible due to cooperation with the Museum of Far Eastern Antiquities, Stockholm Visitors Board and the Swedish National Property Board (Statens fastighetsverk).
